Which six things should you check before paying for bedding shipped to Taiwan?
This page helps you assess bedding specifications, regulations and shipping options. HowBridge currently only offers consolidated shipping from China to Taiwan. Ask the actual seller and carrier about direct delivery from other countries or stores, prices and transit times.
| Checkpoint | What to confirm | Do not assume |
|---|---|---|
| Dimensions | Mattress length, width and height, fitted-sheet pocket depth, and duvet and cover dimensions | A Queen, Double or double-bed label guarantees a fit |
| Materials | Outer fabric, lining, filling, and animal or plant origin | Natural, eco-friendly, organic or hypoallergenic claims replace a composition label |
| Product inspection | Whether the category requires inspection, intended use and personal-use exemption conditions | Small quantities or online purchases are always exempt |
| Quarantine | Untreated feathers, hair, hides, wood or plant fillings | Finished products, sealed packs or vacuum packaging are always exempt from quarantine |
| Shipping | Packed dimensions, actual and volumetric weight, compressibility and returns | A lightweight item always costs little to ship |
| Customs clearance | CCC code, customs value, import requirements and EZ WAY notifications | One fixed duty rate applies to all bedding |
Can US, UK, European and Taiwanese sizes be converted by name?
Names alone are not enough. Queen, Double and King dimensions can vary by country, brand and collection. Compare mattress thickness with fitted-sheet pocket depth, and check duvet and cover length and width separately. Before buying, measure your mattress length, width and height in centimetres, then compare the finished dimensions and washing-shrinkage information on the product page.
Extra sheet length can sometimes tuck under a mattress, but tucking cannot reliably fix insufficient width, shallow pockets, different elastic placement or mismatched duvet and cover proportions. Include return and exchange costs in your decision before paying.
| Item | Minimum measurements to check | Common mismatch |
|---|---|---|
| Fitted sheet | Mattress length, width and height, plus sheet pocket depth | The size name matches, but the pocket is too shallow or the corners differ |
| Flat sheet | Finished length and width, hems and washing shrinkage | Covering the bed does not guarantee the overhang you want |
| Duvet cover and insert | Actual length and width of both, openings and attachment points | Matching Queen or King labels may still mean different dimensions |
| Pillowcase | Pillow length, width and height, and closure type | Standard, Queen and Euro specifications differ |
| Mattress or mattress pad | Unpacked and packed dimensions, weight, and whether it can be rolled or compressed | Unpacked dimensions can differ greatly from the shipping package |
How should you check brands, certifications and sleep trials?
Boll & Branch, Nordstrom, West Elm, Pottery Barn, Amazon and Costco are named only to identify brands or retailers. Their inclusion does not imply a partnership, price guarantee, endorsement of authenticity or current delivery promise. Check official terms on the purchase date for discounts, return windows, sleep-trial coverage, international shipping and certification status.
For labels such as GOTS, verify the certified entity, certificate number, covered products and current validity. Advertising terms such as organic, eco-friendly, non-toxic and hypoallergenic cannot replace fibre and filling composition or guarantee suitability for a particular health condition.
Identifying agencies, brands and retailers
How do cotton, linen, wool, down, latex and foam differ?
The Bureau of Standards, Metrology and Inspection lists many bedding categories for inspection, including sheets, bedspreads, pillowcases, duvet covers, fitted sheets, quilts, towel blankets, sleeping bags and blankets. Whether down or feather bedding, mattresses and other items require inspection depends on current categories and the contents of the set. A set containing an inspection-listed item may still be subject to bedding inspection.
Items for personal use and not for sale may qualify under Taiwan's Regulations Governing Exemption from Inspection of Commodities. Intended use, the value of items of the same specification and type, quantity, shipping method and shipment frequency within six months affect the procedure. Inspection exemption does not mean tax exemption, quarantine exemption or permission to resell.
| Material or product | Main checks | Customs and shipping considerations |
|---|---|---|
| Cotton, linen or regenerated-fibre bedding | Fibre blend percentages, dyeing and finishing, dimensions and care labels | Sheets, fitted sheets and duvet covers may fall within BSMI's mandatory bedding inspection scope |
| Down, feather and wool fillings | Type, proportions, processing status and proof of origin | BSMI inspection categories and animal quarantine are separate systems and must be assessed separately |
| Latex, memory foam or polyester fillings | Material proportions, odour, flame-retardant treatment, compression and recovery instructions | Volume and the risk of being unable to return the item may matter more than weight |
| Grass mats, buckwheat hulls, wood or plant fillings | Scientific names, processing, and presence of seeds, bark, soil or pests | Plant quarantine may apply; declaring the item simply as natural is insufficient |
| Mattresses and electric bedding | Full construction, electrical components, batteries, dimensions, weight and rated specifications | Furniture, textile, electrical-product and carrier rules may all apply |
Example: bedding and towels in Keelung Customs' 2026-10-29 sale — which procedures must be completed after winning the bid?
In the inspection list for the 9th tender by mail published by Keelung Customs on 2026-10-21 (sale date 2026-10-29), there are three lots of bedding/towel goods whose sale conditions all require the winning bidder to complete specified procedures before the goods can be collected. These are collection conditions for publicly sold goods, and they can serve as an example of bedding products involving BSMI inspection and country-of-origin marking.
| Lot | Item | CCC tariff code | Sale conditions (summary) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 152018 | Pillowcase and fitted sheet (cover) sets | 6302.21.00.00-8, 6302.22.00.00-7 | Import release must be based on a BSMI certificate of conformity |
| 152023 | Duvet covers and fitted sheets | 6302.21.00.00-8, 6302.22.00.00-7 | Import release must be based on a BSMI certificate of conformity |
| 152024 | Small towels and bath towels | 6302.91.00.00-3 | Import release must be based on a BSMI certificate of conformity, and the country of origin must also be re-marked by application to the International Trade Administration (MOEA), with the re-marking completed; only after Keelung Customs is asked by letter to approve release may the goods be collected |
Each lot also has the alternative of “exporting the goods in their original condition and packaging within 2 months from the day after the award”. Data dates: Keelung Customs announcement 2026-10-21, sale date 2026-10-29, checked by HowBridge 2026-10-26. These three lots are examples of sale conditions and do not mean that all bedding bought overseas will face the same requirements; whether bedding requires inspection should be determined from its CCC tariff code and the BSMI rules. For all 19 lots, see this round's list in the Customs auction guide. HowBridge only handles consolidation shipping from China (Shenzhen consolidation warehouse) → Taiwan; it does not bid in Customs sales on anyone's behalf and does not guarantee customs clearance or collection of any goods.
What should you compare across official stores, marketplaces, postal services and forwarders?
Volumetric weight or oversize fees often drive the cost of bulky bedding. Vacuum bags may reduce the volume of soft bedding, but do not assume every mattress, down duvet or latex item can tolerate prolonged compression. Vacuum packing also does not guarantee exemption from customs, inspection or quarantine checks.
- Check whether the seller ships directly to Taiwan, accepts forwarding addresses, provides full composition and dimensions, and offers a workable return method for bulky items.
- Obtain package dimensions before and after compression, actual weight and whether recompression is possible. Ask the quote to specify the volumetric-weight formula, overlength or oversize surcharges, and remote-area charges.
- Check carrier restrictions on mattresses, latex, liquid cleaners, batteries, down and feathers, plant fillings and wood. A store's willingness to ship does not guarantee carrier acceptance.
- Compare the transaction price, freight, insurance, import duties and taxes, inspection or quarantine costs, storage and returns, rather than discounts or per-kilogram rates alone.
- Keep orders, payment records, product pages, composition labels, certificates, outer-carton dimensions, compression details and written customer-service replies.
What are the six steps for shipping bedding to Taiwan?
A shipment with a customs value of no more than NT$2,000 generally qualifies for low-value tax exemption, subject to exclusions such as frequent imports, tobacco and alcohol, and agricultural products under tariff-rate quotas. The threshold uses customs value, not just the listed product price. Above it, calculate charges using the actual CCC code and statutory tax base, rather than a fixed 5% customs duty.
- Measure your mattress, pillows and duvet inserts in centimetres, and record fitted-sheet pocket depth and acceptable tolerances.
- Obtain the full product name, outer fabric, lining and filling percentages, origin, model, certifications and transaction price from the seller.
- Request a carrier quote using packed dimensions and actual weight. Confirm volumetric weight, oversize fees, compression, insurance, returns and prohibited or restricted items.
- Check the CCC tariff classification, BSMI categories, commodity inspection exemption rules, and animal and plant quarantine requirements separately. Personal use is not a universal reason for release.
- Declare the product name, materials, quantity, transaction price, origin and intended use accurately. Express-shipment recipients should complete EZ WAY identity verification and advance customs authorization as notified.
- Record the outer packaging and compression condition on delivery, and check care labels and composition. Report damage, contamination or specification discrepancies within the seller's and carrier's deadlines.

What are common questions about shipping bedding to Taiwan?
Will a US Queen fitted sheet always fit a Taiwanese double bed?
No. Compare mattress length, width and height with fitted-sheet pocket depth. Dimensions also vary by brand and collection. Use measurements in centimetres and the product specifications.
Is one set of sheets bought for personal use automatically exempt from BSMI inspection?
The number of sets alone does not decide this. Sheets may require inspection. For personal-use items not intended for sale, assess the exemption procedure under the Regulations Governing Exemption from Inspection of Commodities using purpose, value, quantity, shipping method and frequency. Confirm with BSMI or the customs declarant before shipping.
Do down or wool duvets require quarantine?
It depends on the animal species, material proportions, processing, origin and product condition. BSMI product inspection and animal quarantine are separate systems. Finished products or sealed packaging are not automatically exempt from quarantine.
Does vacuum packing mean shipping is charged by actual weight?
Not necessarily. A carrier may charge the highest of actual weight, volumetric weight or a minimum billable weight, plus oversize fees. Obtain packed dimensions and written pricing rules.
Is customs duty always 5% for bedding?
No. Sheets, duvet covers, filled quilts and mattresses may fall under different CCC codes. Materials and construction can also affect rates and import requirements. The customs authority makes the final determination.
Does EZ WAY identity verification mean customs declaration is complete?
No. Identity verification confirms who the recipient is. Advance authorization involves checking declaration details and authorizing customs declaration. After notification, review the product name, materials, quantity and amount for each shipment.
Which official sources and research support this guide?
Checked: 2026-09-20. Product inspection, inspection exemptions, animal and plant quarantine, tariffs and carrier rules are separate systems. This guide provides a checking sequence and does not replace the competent authority's decision on an individual case.
Zhou Zhifeng's (周志峰) 2021 doctoral dissertation used expert interviews and AHP to assess overseas warehouse logistics services. It found that delivery reliability, warehouse safety and capability, and customs-clearance services should be considered alongside freight costs. The research does not rank HowBridge or substantiate the quality or health effects of particular bedding brands, or 2026 shipping prices or transit times.
