Shipping Calculation for Bulky Items

Many sports and outdoor goods are bulky but light

Yoga mats, tumblers, jackets, and hiking backpacks are often large in volume but light in actual weight. International logistics charges the greater of actual weight and dimensional weight. Q2. How do I buy Nike SNKRS limited shoes?
SNKRS is Nike's U.S. app, and many limited shoes are released only to U.S. users. Practical flow: 1. use a U.S. VPN plus a U.S. billing address and payment method 2. after winning the draw, have the seller ship internationally, or use a local forwarder to send it to Taiwan (HowBridge does not offer a US route). You can also buy resale pairs at a premium; see the used auction import guide. SNKRS limited items can sell in Taiwan for 2-5 times retail, so buying from the U.S. can save substantially.
Q3. Can Theragun massage guns be brought to Taiwan?
Yes, with restrictions: 1. they contain lithium batteries, usually around 60-70 Wh 2. they must use ocean freight because lithium batteries are restricted by air 3. direct shipping from U.S. Therabody to Taiwan can be expensive 4. using the US and ocean freight is usually the best value. Note on BSMI: if the item is on BSMI’s mandatory inspection list (check BSMI announcements), personal-use goods of the same model on one import declaration can apply for inspection exemption at US$1,000 or less, or up to 2 pieces above US$1,000, and the same model only once every 6 months (Articles 5 and 8 of 商品免驗辦法). Q4. Can camping gas canisters be shipped back to Taiwan?
No. 1. High-pressure gas canisters are prohibited by air under IATA rules 2. ocean freight is also restricted 3. most forwarders refuse them 4. buying locally in Taiwan is best. Recommendations: buy after arrival from Decathlon or outdoor shops, or rent from some campsites. Other flammables such as kerosene and alcohol fuel are also prohibited.
Q5. Can trekking poles and ski poles be shipped back to Taiwan?
Yes, by ocean freight. 1. Regular folding or telescoping trekking poles are fine by ocean freight 2. ski poles around 120 cm long are charged by dimensional volume 3. passengers carrying them personally must usually check them, not bring them in carry-on luggage 4. forwarders can ship long narrow items by ocean freight, charged by volume. Note that quick-fold poles with gas spring mechanisms may face additional restrictions.
Q6. Can a complete bicycle be shipped to Taiwan?
Yes, but it is complex. 1. A complete bike is oversized, with a box around 1.7m x 0.8m x 0.3m 2. ocean freight is required because air freight is not cost-effective 3. shipping may be around 8-10 cubic feet, or NT$2,400-3,000 4. removing the front wheel, handlebar, and saddle can save about 30% shipping cost 5. electric bicycles require BSMI and road compliance checks. Recommendation: buying from the U.S. is worthwhile for high-end road bikes over NT$80,000 when U.S. savings exceed 30%; budget bikes are usually not worth it.
